Hi @TeacherCath
Lovely to see you join, welcome to the community
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing a lack of support, in what area are you struggling most or do you mean support in general?

I am worried about what will happen to my son when I am no longer here to support him. We were referred by our GP to the local disability support but he does not meet their criteria for support, he is not 'bad' enough. This is because he passed some exams at school. Currently he is not known to any services but he won't be able to manage on his own.

Hi @TeacherCath Welcome to the community.
I can imagine that's really worrying for you both. Did your son have a needs assessment from the people your GP referred you to?
In what ways do you think your son won't be able to manage on his own, if you don't mind me asking? For example, do you think he'll struggle with finances, completing daily tasks and so on? Does he claim any benefits?
Do you have any other family or close friends who'd be able to help out if needed?
I'm not quite sure on what all of your options are, so it could also be worth getting in touch with Mencap to see if they're able to offer any advice or support.
