I have a 22 year old son who has Asperger's. He has suffered with his digestive system for a long time now, and takes Imodium for controlling IBS, this was the dr's advice. The problem has got worse and from the symptoms he has been showing I think he may have Tenesmus. Has anyone got any experience of this? Many Thanks

HI and welcome,I'm sorry to hear this. You really should speak to his GP with any concerns you have. We are not medically trained here so we can't give you any medical advice because it's against the rules of the community.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Hi @Cherril - & welcome to the community. I'm sorry to read about the problems your son has, but, as Poppy says, we can't advise, sorry. Do speak to his GP, who is in the best possible position to advise knowing your son's medical history. Kindly let us know how you get on, & let us know if we can support you in any other way; sometimes chatting with others can help a little.

Welcome to the community @Cherril Thanks for joining.
I'm sorry to hear that your son has been having some trouble with his IBS. I don't have any personal experience of tenesmus either unfortunately. I've tweaked the title of your post so that it should be easier for other people with a similar experience to find.
I hope you manage to get an appointment sorted with the GP, as they should hopefully be able to determine what's going on. Let us know how you get on!
