It's because it takes a certain amount of mental & physical ability, so they use that basis to make wide ranging assumptions in relation to the other tasks... Sadly, it's not that simple in real life of course.
I have a friend who was once a nurse and made the mistake of becoming an assessor...she lasted a matter of weeks saying..in her words “I wasn’t prepared to bend the truth or lie on the assessment reports”0 -

It requires the assessment of verbal and written evidence.I’m not saying that the inference drawn above was correct but it’s certainly one legitimately open to a HCP. A blue badge and leg brace tell a HCP nothing more than you have an issue. They say nothing about the extent of it.
The PIP application process asks for medical evidence but then ignores any reports you care to send.

Blue badges in my area are only issued without assessment for enhanced mobility/DLA usually and I was issued without assessment by council but it seems now I no longer need the blue badge by the DWP!.0

Medical evidence is only useful if it states exactly how your conditions affect you. Most doesn't and only states the basic information. When you gave an example of the last time you tried walking further, did you explain in detail where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were?

I take a high does of anxiety medication but the report says I don't take anything for anxiety despite a copy of prescription, it seemed no-one looked at my evidence.0 -

Recent reports suggest there are overtured MR's of around 14,000 every month.
Let's hope ours are on of those.1 -
