I sent my form off in July, and haven't heard back. Is this normal? What happens next?

Hi there

Im sure this has been asked a million times already so I apologise. 

In July I filled in a form to say what my condition is and sent it off but haven’t heard anything yet and I wondered if this is normal?

I am starting to panic and think they have lost it or something

how long does it normally take?

also, what can I expect if and when they do read it? Will they call me or something? Or do I have to see someone? It’s all very confusing.

    Hi,
    Im assuming this is the work capability assessment form that you’ve filled in as you’re posting on the Universal Credit part of the community.
    For this they will assess your ability to do any type of work. You will most likely need a work capability assessment either by telephone or face to face, most people have these. There are huge backlogs so it can sometimes take several months or more before an appointment becomes available. Once it has, you will be contacted the Health Assessment Advisory Service with a date and time.
    There’s some information here in this link. Although it says ESA, it’s exactly the same process.

    Yes, that’s the one I meant, sorry I couldn’t remember the name of it. 

    Okay, that’s a little reassuring I suppose so it’s not unusual for it to have taken nearly 6 months.

    No, it’s not unusual to wait that long during these times. Do be aware that you will only receive extra money if you’re found to have LCWRA. See the descriptors here https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/universal-credit-uc/uc-faq/3904-limited-capability-for-work-related-activity

    Thank you. Yeah I was advised by my doctor to apply and put his info and stuff down So I would hope he knows what he’s on about ha ha

    So you’re telling the doctor who diagnosed me and set up all the stuff with the specialists and everything doesn’t have any knowledge about my condition? That seems unlikely. We’ve had many long conversations about the situations, it was him that talked me into to applying. I’m so confused right now.

    I didn't mean they don't have any knowledge about your conditions, i meant it's unlikely they would have any benefits knowledge. I was replying to what you said here..

    very few doctors/Consultants have any benefits knowledge.
