As requested by @L_Volunteer, I wanted to take a moment to give summaries for the above titles, in case that would be helpful:
The Push by Ashley Audrain: about a mother convinced that her daughter committed a murder (there’s a push involved) but she isn’t believed.
The Widow by K.L. Slater: about a woman questioning everything she knew about her husband after he dies.
Misery by Stephen King: after a car accident, a writer ends up being cared for by his superfan and things get sinister.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman (thanks for all the positive reviews!): the main character has led a very quiet life until something changes and she has to learn how to navigate the world more boldly than before. Though, I’m sure someone else could talk about it much better than me.
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett: a story about what it meant to grow up Black in the 1950s Deep South & how the dynamics shift for two identical twins when they move away from that with different experiences of race (fiction). The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater: this is one of a series, but it’s a fantasy tale about a 16yo who’s forever told that kissing her true love would kill him. She meets his spirit and sets on a quest to find the magic behind it abd whether she was, in fact, responsible for his death. The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman: essentially just the prequel to the His Dark Materials series, so let me know if you need more information on that
Birthday by Meredith Russo: this story is told on one day, every year for six years & is about the friendship/budding relationship between two people as one of them slowly realises that she is transgender.
I hope that helps!0 -
Thank you so much @Danielle_2022, that's really helpful. Some intriguing sounding books there!

I love reading books, especially autobiographies. I tend to go through phases of reading with the last one being My Lifey’ by Paddy McGuiness. I bought it during the Christmas holidays (kinda present to myself…). Typically I started reading it… put it down…yet not picked it up again. This thread has reminded me to re-start on it again!0

Ooooh, I’m so glad to hear that you’ll be starting up again, @CoffeeFirst! Please keep us updated with all of your thoughts — that’s what this thread is about! The last autobiography I read was called ‘Sitting Pretty’ by Rebekah Taussig, which tells her life story as a disabled woman. Honestly, it had such a big impact on me that I was compelled to write to her about it a while ago. We have exchanged a couple of emails now and it’s quite possibly the best thing that’s ever happened to me, hahaha! But it’s one that I recommend to anybody willing to listen1

Sounds lovely @Danielle_2022, and even better that you have had contact with her about it.
