Housing officer visit

Hello everyone hope you all are doing well 
I need some help please if you can answer 
Today morning around 9:30am 2 housing officer came from council to visit my property and wanted to check the id and etc etc and said they wanna make sure who is living in 
is that something they do or was it something else ?

    Possibly a random check, yeah. Did you ask to see their ID to make sure they were from the council? I had a visit like this a while back where they completed a household information survey. Mine was notified by letter in advance first though.

    Yes they showed their id but they didn’t send me any letters or appointment

    Did you ask why they were visiting? Only they can tell you why.

    As long as they were who they said they were which obviously they must have been if you looked at their ID, then I can’t see the problem. I don’t believe there is a law that states you have to have prior notice.

    I was sleeping and they ring the bell I open the door and asked them to came in they saw recent letter and my id and my kids id she asked few personal details names etc etc and took passport pictures and ask me to sign at the end that’s it they didn’t see anything from living room to out That’s it 
    i dnt know I’m confuse 😒

    I don’t really understand the confusion. Sounds like they were doing on the spot checks. They were more than likely bringing their records up to date and wanted to confirm your identity. They have a legal obligation to ensure these records are up to date and verified.

    I don’t understand the confusion either. When I’ve rented from social housing in the past I’ve had random checks like this without being notified before the visit. 
    If you want to know why they visited you need to ring them.

    Hopefully it was just a check to confirm who lives with you @skhan95 :) Are you feeling a bit better about it now? I can imagine it might have felt a bit worrying to have someone turn up unannounced.
