    Hi all I'm. New
I've been on uc 22 months
I am. Waiting for a dwp health assessment
I have health issues and find it hard to leave the house   I also have gallbladder attacks, depression, anxiety, bladder problems and stenosis of the liver. I have to attend job centres and restart like 4 times a month. Its very stressful
I put in my form for disability on 10 Feb. Not got appointment yet
Even though I have a fit note, expires Sunday I need a new one, I have been told I. Still have to apply for jobs and put them in my journal and attend all appointments and do all tasks until I get a dwp health assessment
This morning ask logged into my uc journal, I had a odd message pop up    it said, before you continue, answ these 4 questions, was only 1 question not 4.  It said has anyone helped you with your claim since you first claimed uc
    Well no they haven't

I ticked the no box. Then the question disappeared and it let me on my journal
Very odd. Has anyone else had that message. I don't understand it      I'm under cbt therapy once a week but over the phone as I can't cope on the bus or face to face
I get upset easy abd worry
Waiting so long for dwp assessment. No. Idea if il pass

Hi and welcome to the community

Unfortunately until you have been assessed you are classed as a job seeker and have to comply with your work commitments and provide fit notes

The process can take a long time some wait over a year but not all

Your work coach can turn off your work commitments but it is at their discretion

I can't find statistics for outcomes of UC WCA's but for ESA
ESA: Work Capability Assessments, Mandatory Reconsiderations and Appeals: December 2021 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
    • in the quarter to June 2021 the majority of DWP decisions for initial WCAs resulted in a Support Group (SG) award (57%)

Hello @Amberpearl I'm so sorry to hear how overwhelmed you're feeling, thank you for reaching out.

Have you spoken to the job centre about reasonable adjustments before? I think it will help to let them know how you're feeling about leaving the house. If you do have to go in, is there anyone who could come with you to help you feel less anxious?

It's good to know that you're being supported with CBT at the moment, how are you finding it?

I'm sorry to hear about what's happened with domestic abuse over a long time, that must be very difficult to talk about. There's no pressure to talk about anything that you're not comfortable with, we're here to support you.

We'd like to support you as much as we can with how you've been feeling, my colleague @Ross_Scope has sent you an email with some helpful resources, so do take a look at that whenever you are able to.

If you feel we can help with anything more, please just ask.

    Alex

Have you asked your work coach about it or explain how difficult it is for you

If they insist maybe speak to somebody more senior

That's simply not correct. You can see by the link posted above that 57% of people are successfully placed into the Support Group/LCWRA.
I've claimed ESA since 2013 and have had a few assessments since then and have always been in the Support Group. My daughter was also found to have LCWRA last year for her UC claim.
There's also quite a lot of people here that are the same.

Hi I passed the assessment but I had to go 5 times as the first 3 times there wasn’t a doctor qualified enough to see me missed 4th appointment that’s when they stopped my ESA the 5th time was New Year’s Day and the doctor had to come from Nottingham on the train to see me. The PIP medical I had the doctor was disgusted that I was made to go there. X

This is not true! I have had a better experience with the process of ESA than PIP any day of the week. I got mine first time, but I did get my GP and all of my medical professionals dealing with my care to write statements for me about how I’m affected and my diagnosis and what treatment I receive.

What baffles me is I’m now receiving LCWRA and scored maximum points, yet on the PIP assessment I scored 0 for everything! (I do understand there is a difference in esa and pip assessments) My UC adviser is brilliant and has told me to go for PIP again (I didn’t appeal last year) and I’m absolutely petrified, I don’t want too.

    Hi Amber,

As a guide I applied for ESA to start on the 1st December 2021. I then had my assessment on the 14th March via telephone call and I received my outcome in my UC journal on Sunday 27th March.

Hope that helps give you a guideline 😊

The criteria for LCWRA is not about scoring points, it's about meeting at least one of the descriptors the majority of the time.
PIP descriptors are different and you need to score at least 8 points for an award. For daily living there's 10 acitivities and mobility there's 2.
They are 2 totally different benefits, with different criteria. Being found to have LCWRA doesn't mean you're automatically entitled to PIP.
With good reason you have 13 months to request the Mandatory Reconsideration. How long was it that the decision was made on the PIP?
To constantly reapply using the same evidence you previously used could see another refusal.

I can see how having a negative experience could put you off @Floydiee1995, but it's worth going for if you think you're eligible for an award :) Have you reviewed the PIP descriptors (pipinfo.net) to see where you might be able to score points, and thought of some evidence to support what you're saying?
