Anyone else been waiting 24 weeks for a Pip decision?

On this subject, I've posted elsewhere that my Wife's PIP started in 2020 and was awarded until May 2030. Out of the blue she was recently informed it would end on 2nd September 2022. Have contacted the to ask why, but, no answer was forthcoming except that she had to reapply, which she has done. Question is, what happens if no decision is made by September 2nd? Do payments simply stop? She also has a Mutability vehicle contact unto 2023; what happens to this while she is waiting for a decision?0

They may extend the award if no decision's been made by then. Your lease with motability will continue until a decision's been made on the PIP. If she's not awarded Enhanced mobility this time then motability will contact her to arrange for the vehicle to be returned.

I didn't do a diary I just told them about when my son has a really bad day. Try thinking about a day that has been the most trickiest for your young person an tell pip all about it. Make sure to photocopy all your forms so you can look back at everything you've written hope this helps @Willowhope1

That's not the best thing to do at all. You should never concentrate purely on the worst days because this could be seen as fraud. PIP is about how you're affected at least 50% of the time over a 12 month period. You should tell them everything.

PIP is about how you're affected at least 50% of the time over a 12 month period. You should tell them everything.I've never personally done a diary for any PIP claim. What you should do is those real world examples i mentioned in your thread here. https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/91694/hi-my-name-is-willowhope-new-pip-claim-for-my-son#latestMedical records are only useful if it states anywhere in there exactly how your conditions affect you against the PIP descriptors. My medical records doesn't really tell them anything useful so i never sent them.It helps to have some understanding of the descriptors. Have a read of this. https://pipinfo.net/

If after a review PIP is not rewarded and you decide to appeal, does existing PIP continue while appeal is in process?0

No, not if you're not awarded. Any existing award will end because a new decision overrules your existing award.

Good news that he's been awarded. I'm just saying that to concentrate purely on the bad days is not good advice to give anyone.

When transferring from DLA then yes PIP usually starts about 7-8 weeks after the PIP decision's been made. You'll receive 1 last payment of DLA before that stops. If the PIP award is higher than the DLA then unfortunately there's no backdated money owed either.

Oh why is that. Iv been reading everywhere that it will be backdated from the day I made the phone call for the forms ?0

The DLA stops 28 days after the first pay day after the PIP decision is made. PIP starts the day after that will then be paid 28 days after that (because PIP is paid every 4 weeks).0 -
DLA and PIP can't be paid at the same time. If the PIP was backdated then this would mean you would be receiving the payments twice. Since PIP was introduced in 2013 those that transfer across from DLA have never been entitled to backdated money.
