A little kindness can go a long way....

I'm feeling quite overwhelmed and anxious at the moment as I have a lot going on.
Today I was trying to manoeuver my car in a carpark and a lady driver sat patiently waiting to get past. We both smiled and waved.
Then I was driving home down a winding, narrow lane and a man in a van pulled over to the side to make it easier for me to pass.
Both of these kind and courteous acts lifted my spirits.
A while back I was talking to an elderly gentleman who was walking his dog. When we had finished chatting, he said "Can I just thank you for stopping and chatting to me? People usually walk straight past".
The smallest things we do for others can really have a positive impact.
So, I'm just wondering, what little acts of kindness have helped to lift your spirits recently?

Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling great at the moment @Starlingbird, though I'm glad to read of some of those positive things that have happened recently. The little things really do make a world of difference!
For me, just being made a cup of tea can really lift my spirits

Hi @Starlingbird I always talk to people when I'm out its nice. Be sirprised the conversations I've had.1

@Sandy_123 I bet you have brightened many a person's day 😊0

Yeah I guess so. The best thing to do if your feeling overwhelmed is to break things down into smaller tasks1

Yes, that's what I've been trying to do @Sandy_123 I have had a lot of emails from the estate agent regarding the sale of my house and I have had to explain that I have anxiety issues and will need to tackle one thing per day. I know I will sound paranoid, but I am scared that the perpetrator of the harassment and bullying (the reason why I am moving) will find me on the internet and get a kick out of how badly I have been affected by what they have done.Sandy_123 said:Yeah I guess so. @Teddybear12. My GP is aware of what has been happening to me. I am on a low dose of meds (I'm very sensitive to some meds, so don't like to take stuff!).Teddybear12 said:Hi @Starlingbird I am sorry you are feeling anxious and overwhelmed at the moment. Have you asked your GP for any help with this?
It always makes me smile and feel good when anyone does a small gesture just out of the blue. I always think as I walk my little dog if I can make someone smile it has been a good walk. Take care.
Oh, that's a lovely outlook regarding your walks with your little doggy. Dogs are always a good conversation starter!1 -
I'm sorry you have to move because of bullying and harassment. Have you the police involved? Hopefully you'll feel safer in your new home.1

The Police were involved in the past @sandy, but I was so traumatised for such a long time that my whole system has gone really reactive. There are still passive-aggressive things going on. My whole life is in this area because I've been here for many years, so I will lose so much.Sandy_123 said:I'm sorry you have to move because of bullying and harassment. Have you the police involved? Its a shame that. It might do you good the move then maybe you can move back later on when you feel stronger1

@Starlingbird a move helped me a lot when I was suffering from similar problems. I hope it works for you, I’m sure it will.1

Thank you, @leeCal Great to hear things improved for you when you moved house. I just need a peaceful life so that I can heal. My nervous system is shot!
Sorry everyone....this was meant to be a heart warming thread, but like many conversations, it drifted off track.0 -
Oh, that's lovely @wendy41 There are some genuinely good people in this world and it certainly can lift one's mood when we share a little time with them (regardless of how brief). The memories of certain positive interactions can stay with us forever and can still give us a mini boost when we recall them.....that's the power of kindness!wendy41 said:Sometime ago; I was stood at a bus stop and another lady came along and asked if the bus had been. It went on from there and opened up such a lovely conversation, really lifted my mood.0 -
I completely agree @Starlingbird
