Carpol Tunnel Surgery

I have cp and use crutches to walk and about to have carpol tunnel surgery for the 2nd time in a year . I can't walk without crutches and find recovery hard. I have people to help but take away what little independence I have for a few months . I also have permanent nerve damage in hands from crutches. My cp had always been my legs then as I got older back , knees neck and now hands all because of the impact of how cp and keeping mobile effects me. Has anyone else had the surgery or Carpol tunnel ?
I have had many operations due to my cp and had enough of them.

Thank you sick of operations take care0

I can hear how you are sick of operations @Carrie38. This is more of a reflection of the difficult situation you are in rather than you as a person.
Would anything make this more manageable for you at the moment? Minus removing the operations of course because I, unfortunately, don't have those powers!0 -
Wish I had a time machine lol . Don't have the surgery till 19th just had right done less than a year ago . I have friends and family.

Ha, very good point @Carrie38. I wish I had a time machine to lend you.
How are you feeling about having the surgery on the 19th? - apart from wanting it to hurry up of course!
It is really positive to hear you have friends and family. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you need anything else though1 -
Just wish i could speak to someone simular0

I hear you @Carrie38. Hopefully, someone with a similar experience will respond to your thread soon. I have seen your post is already tagged with CP so hopefully soon!
In the meantime, I will tag @Alex_Scope and @Richard_Scope as Alex and Richard are the most likely to be able to support you further here1 -
Hi @Carrie38
I'm afraid I don't know anybody with our impairment, CP, that has had Carpal Tunnel surgery but I do know plenty of non-disabled people that have had the procedure. The thing that is of real benefit to everybody that has had the treatment is aftercare and exercising afterwards.
Here is a really helpful information download from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, that aims to reduce pain and maintain function.
Also, have you had any assessments with an OT and physiotherapist about the issues you have with using your crutches?1 -
Had assessment no other options it I want to stay mobile. Thanks0

I have had right hand done last year now left I have tried splints etc its long term crutch use that is the issue0
-
Thanks for keeping us in the loop with how things are for you at the moment @Carrie38. It sounds really tough that there are no other options.
How are you feeling at the moment? We are here for you and listening to you if you would like to share more with us1 -

Operation Tuesday so nervous0

Hi @Carrie38
It is a nervous time awaiting surgery but it's important that you try to relax and focus on the benefits of the surgery.
I have tracked down SmartCrutchUK, give them a call or an email and ask if they would allow you to test their product.0 -
I had the surgery Tuesday I am sore and mobility poor but ok .0

I'm glad to hear you've had the surgery @Carrie38 and that you're on the mend now, it can be a frustrating wait to recovery, how are you feeling this morning?0
