PIP - Still waiting....

I applied for PIP in Aug 2021. Got 6 daily living points, 4 mobility. Asked for mandatory reconsideration and scored 1 more point for daily living so now have 7, 1 below the limit for the basic payment. I've gone to appeal and am waiting a tribunal date. I emailed them last week to ask when I might get a date. They came back to say the average date at my local office is 24 weeks. My appeal went on the list in April 2022 so I might get a date sometime in October!! 14 months after I first applied. I am very frustrated and anxious about this. I just can't believe it could take this long. I just feel like giving up but I won't as I really think I should qualify. Living with MS is not easy for me. I guess I just have to keep waiting but it's very hard.

Waiting times for hearings since the pandemic have decreased considerably because it used to be a year to wait just for the hearing. What takes the most time is Waiting for the assessment/decision and then the MR.

    My experience has been different.
I waited 4 months from application to assessment then only 3 weeks for a decision. The MR took 2 months. The appeal part seems to be taking the longest for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us @JoeyC. It is just as key that we hear different experiences than it is similar experiences, if not even more key!

How are you finding things at the moment? It sounds like the appealing part could be tough. We are here for you if we can do anything to support you  :)

As an update, I heard today that my tribunal appeal is on August 4th. I am so relieved that I haven't got to wait until October as I was advised. I am very nervous about attending, but I have nothing to hide and I can only be myself I guess. This whole process is so hard.
    I'll keep everyone posted....

Thanks for the update, and best of luck for August 4. As you say, it's good not to have to wait until October.
