Hiya all I have achalasia and I've had it for years! I had the big hellaonomony  op ( can't spell it) I have pains like heart attacks, just recently had another barium swallow. Its effecting my social life badly, I have to carry water around with me constantly incase I have a chest pain, causes anxiety, anyone else suffered for years? I have to have a drink when eating ANYTHING even a little sweet.

    I'm not too familiar with achalasia either, unfortunately. I can see that you've found some other posts on the community from people with a similar experience to you, which is great to see. Fingers crossed you'll be able to connect with some people who can understand what you're going through.

    You've mentioned that it's affecting your social life. Are your friends understanding of your condition, and that you might sometimes need to sip some water or take a break, and so on?
