Advice needed. I have been awarded PIP. Does the payment get made the same day as the text?

Hi, my name is Kim and I have been on here before but ages ago.
I had murders with DWP over the review of my PIP last year and it ended with all my appeal paperwork getting lost between Mind and the DWP. I was forced to make a new claim in March. The process has been fairly easy this time and I got the same text on Wednesday morning that other people have mentioned  re being awarded PIP, letter sent etc.
My medical bits haven't changed that much and I am shocked by the fact I haven't had to fight this time.
Does the payment get made the same day as the text?
My real question is how will PIP affect the ESA I receive, will it remain the same. go up or decrease?

    Whether your ESA will be affected by your PIP award depends on your circumstances.  If you are in receipt of the daily living component of PIP and  you are living alone and  no one receives Carers allowance in respect of the care they provide for you, if you are on income reated ESA a severe disability premium can be awarded. If you are awarded enhanced rate daily living component PIP and are in the support group for income related ESA  you could be awarded an enhanced disability premium. You will need to tell the DWP that you have been awarded daily living PIP so they can recalculate your ESA award.

     A PIP  award also entitles you to extra help in other areas as well - for example if you applied for PIP before 25 May 2022 you will be entiled to a cost of living disability payment. You will need to tell the DWP that you are owed a cost of living payment and you will need to do this by reporting a missing cost of living payment. You may also be entiled to some money off your council tax bill again depending on your circumstances.

    An award of PIP is not taken into account for calculating your income for the purposes of means tested benefits.  Getting a disability premium will not reduce your PIP or any of your other benefits.

    You won't normally get a payment of your PIP award on the same date as the text but it is quite likely that you will get a lump sum payment into your account before you get a notice of your award. - it can be within 2 weeks but sometimes it can take much longer.

    That's a little misleading. Enhanced disability premium for those claiming Income Related ESA is automatically paid. A PIP award makes no difference to this.

    The EDP is paid to anyone on income based ESA in the Support Group, you don’t need PIP to get it.

    If someone in the WRAG an award of enhanced rate PIP Daily Living would give rise to EDP for income based ESA.

    The £150 for disability benefits isn’t due to be paid until September so it isn’t ‘missing’ yet.

    Thank you both calcotti and poppy for your comments - as ever helpful and appreciated.  I appreciate that the cost of living payment isn't "missing" yet but the poster  may need to give the DWP a nudge in September. Thank you for clarifying.

    Can I just ask as I am going through a review too. 8 months and still waiting :).. are you or have you ever received back dated pay from a review? If you have been awarded a higher rate?

    Usually a review that's started by DWP there's no money owed if the new award is higher. However, there's been just a couple of people here that have had money owed once a new decision was made on their review.

    Thank you for all your advice. I'm still waiting for the first payment to hit my bank account and haven't got the decision letter so I don't know what the award is or for how long. I have done some calculations but I'm not holding my breath.  My best friends husband seemed to think that my Housing Benefit would be affected if my ESA increased so I thought I'd check with you guys.
    It's odd that PIP doesn't give you an idea of the amount of the first payment, ESA did when I first got it and they called to say when it had been paid. different departments, different processes I guess.
    Also, not sure if you are aware but different banks have different credit times for instance my bank is between 6am and 9am, found this out by accident whilst looking at PIP and payment timescales. I always thought BACS payments went in overnight. As I said to my best friend today, I'm 61 and still learning new things every day :smile::)

    If your income based ESA increases it will not affect your HB. However, if there are any non dependant deductions on your HB these will stop if you are awarded Daily Living PIP.

    I just remembered when I was awarded PIP in 2017 my ESA stayed the same until 2 years later when I got a call from DWP had to answer a few questions and was awarded an extra £60 a week backdated to the start of the PIP award.
    It went back down after they reviewed and denied my PIP last year.
    Out of interest, once I receive the letter from DWP detailing my award, should I then question the previous review decision, as the appeal paperwork was lost between Mind and the DWP and this claim was made on DWP advice?
    My view is be grateful for the award but people around me say that I shouldn't let it go and to fight. I'm interested in your views as you seem to know the system and how it works

    You can, if you still meet the qualifying conditions, get the SDP added back to fro whatever date the new PIP award starts from.

    I just had a call from ESA regarding some updated information I sent them. The lady on the phone told me that she could see the PIP award and that I have been awarded Standard Daily Living Component and the higher rate of Mobility Component, can I still claim the SDP if I get the mobility part?

    It's nothing to do with the mobility part. It's daily living part the counts. If you're already claiming the SDP then this will just continue if your circumstances haven't changed.

    If you’re not already claiming it then you will need to be living alone or classed as living alone. (No other adults living with you) unless they are either claiming a qualifying disability benefit or registered blind.

    A friend has told me I can't get mobility component and SDP, so I'm waiting to speak to ESA at the moment.

    Lots happened since my last post.

    Got my decision letter, received the payment and spoke to ESA yesterday.
    I was amazed at how helpful the lady at the ESA was, really explained what she was doing and how long it may take, she said up to  weeks, which was fine because I know they are busy.

    Got another text this morning from DWP:

    'You told us about PIP award, living alone with no carer and your ESA payment has changed to about £352.'

    I am assuming that as my payments are fortnightly, it is the fortnightly amount they are referring to. I also assume I'll get a letter about the change too.

    I have a very small occupational pension (works out as under £30 per week) so they do deduct some money for that, but from the figures on the text it looks as if I have been awarded the SDP.

    Can't tell you all how much the extra money will mean to me. I can stop worrying about feeding my dog, Ruby, and myself whilst having heating and lights this winter!!!
    I want to thank everyone on here for their advice and help, your knowledge of these things is amazing.
