PIP/ADP

Hi. I'm in Scotland. I applied for PIP on 27 June and have receieve a date for a phone consultaion on 1 September (which I think is pretty quick) However, on the 25 July I heard that I could apply for the Scottish equivelant of PIP which is ADP (Adult Disabilty Payment and is exactly the same amounts and scoring system) So I also applied for that. I am NOT trying to get two awards, I was told that PIP would take 20 weeks but ADP takes 8 to 10. What I'm wondering now is, should I cancel the Scottish ADP or wait and see how I get on with PIP first

According to this, your application for pip should've been transferred to Social Security Scotland and treated as an application for ADP.
https://www.mygov.scot/adult-disability-payment/how-to-apply
If you applied for Personal Independence Payment but should have applied for Adult Disability PaymentAs you live in Scotland you cannot, as I understand it, be awarded PIP as a new claim (although possibly you applied just before the cut off but I can't find a critical date, just June 2022).
The Department for Work and Pensions will send your application to Social Security Scotland.
Social Security Scotland will:- use it as an application for Adult Disability Payment
- make a decision about your application
You do not need to complete a separate Adult Disability Payment application.
I suggest you ring ADP and explain the situation and see what they say.0 -
I have now found
https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/scotland/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/help-with-your-claim/how-to-claim/If you do not already get PIPIt says those areas can apply for ADP which suggests that PIP can still be applied for but it really isn't clear what should be happening.
You can apply for Adult Disability Payment on or after these dates:
21 March - if you live in Dundee City, Perth and Kinross or the Western Isles
20 June - if you live in Angus, North Lanarkshire or South Lanarkshire
25 July - if you live in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, East Ayrshire, Fife, Moray, North Ayrshire or South Ayrshire
29 August - if you live anywhere else in Scotland.
Your PIP appears to be processing as a PIP claim so have no idea what will now happen with the ADP application. I would still suggest you ring ADP and explain the situation and see what they say.1 -

Thanks for the replies and sorry I'm so late in responding.I've had my PIP phone assessment and the lady didn't say anything about the Scottish ADP. She said at the end that I'd hear from them in 4 to 6 weeks. I'm just going to wait. I'll decide what to do when either of them give me a decision. Apparently the ADP try to assess without a face to face or phone assessment and it's done using NHS health care professionals.0

Hello again @CarolMCW and no need to apologise thanks for the update
Keep us updated when you do hear more about your PIP.
Do you think ADP would be a better experience for you as an applicant?1 -
Thanks Alex, I don't know if ADP will be easier. The answers to the questions in the ADP form don't have as many options as the PIP eg, answer was in 2 options in some questions, either 1.Yes or sometimes or 2. No and then it says you can comment further if you answered NO. I thought this was unfair as it didn't want you to comment if you were affected "sometimes". But I did answer and explained that sometimes was often and how it affected me.But regarding my PIP phone assessment I had on Thursday, I felt I should've said more but hey ho, it is what it is now. The next day I got a text to say that the DWP had received the written report from the assessor. She wasn't long in sending it. I looked on line and read that you could only get a copy once you'd been given the final decision. But I phoned them and the lady said she'd put it in the post for me today! WowI also taped it (went through the proper channels but the assessor said she didn't know I was taping it so she called me back after finding it on the notes. I've transcripted it) So it'll be interesting.1

There's long delays for decisions for some people for change of circumstances and reviews. Some are waiting as long as 1 year for a decision.

You can't start a new claim when you already have an award in place.
