ESA and adult son moving home

i’m on Esa if my adult working son moves back home with me how will this affect my benefit, council tax and housing benefit,

Do you claim a disability benefit such as PIP daily living or DLA care? If so then there will be no non dependent deductions for housing benefit.If you don’t, does your son work?Details on non dependent deductions here https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/benefits/housing_benefit_deductions_when_living_with_non_dependantsIf you currently live alone then you would no longer qualify for single person discount for council tax, unless your son is a student.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. Then there will be a non dependent deduction for your housing benefit. How much this will be will depend on how much earnings he receives per week. There's a table in this link that will tell you the deductions based on earnings. https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/benefits/housing_benefit_deductions_when_living_with_non_dependants All changes must be reported to your local Authority.Your ESA will not be affected.

Rent that you charge a lodger would be classed as income for housing benefit. The first £20 is ignored. If meals are included then only 50% of income over £20/week would affect housing benefit. If meals are not included then anything over £20 is classed as income.It would also affect your ESA in the same way.If you currently claim single person discount on your council tax then you will also lose this.You will also need to speak to your landlord to ask for permission to take in a lodger. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/housing/renting-a-home/subletting-and-lodging/lodging-index/taking-in-a-lodger-what-you-need-to-think-about-first/Rules for non dependent deductions are different for Universal credit. If your son is under 21 there’s no non dependent deductions. If he’s over this then the deduction is £77.87/month.
For a lodger it’s not classed as income and will not affect your UC.As you’re not claiming a disability benefit,
if you’re in the Support Group for ESA. UC LCWRA actually pays more than Support Group.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please.
