Hi, my name is Lachie! Will I automatically get my LCWRA element when my pension starts?

I've just received confirmation of my state pension to start Jan 23 .
I'm currently recieving UC & LCWRA benefit & I'm aware that UC will stop but will I still automatically  get my LCWRA element when my pension starts ?.

Thanks , Lachie .

No. It is paid as part of UC, not separately.

Thanks for that , I'm just concerned that I would be worse off when I get my Pension .
    Cheers .....

Are you claiming UC as a single person or with a partner? If it's with a partner are they younger than you?

Then all of your UC will end. Have you had a state pension forecast? You can check here. https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension
Depending on how much your state pension is weekly, you maybe entitled to pension credit, which will top up your income to £182.60/week. This can be increased if you're claiming a disability benefit such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care.
If you don't claim a disability benefit and your state pension is £182.60/week then there will be no entitlement to pension credit. https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit/eligibility
If you need to claim for help with any rent then you can claim housing benefit from your local Authority.

    Thanks Poppy ,

I've had my pension letter which is £185 approx p/w so I'll need to apply then for housing benefit & council tax relief as I rent my home then ?.

    Regards , Lachie .

Yes you will need to apply for both of those once your UC ends. You should already be claiming council tax reduction but this will be recalculated based on your state pension.

Great site to sort your problems / worries , I was certainly concerned that when I recieve my state pension in Jan 23 I would be worse off than being on UC& LCWLA , hopefully LCWLA may continue or will have to apply for housing benefit / Council tax help ! ?.

    Thanks,  Lachie.

LCWRA will also end as it’s part of UC overall. As advised, you could try pension credit. You will have to apply for both housing benefit and council tax support yes. I’d put a claim in for council tax help ASAP as they might backdate a little.

The LCWRA element will not continue once you reach state pension age. It's part of UC which will end. You will then need to claim housing benefit for help with the rent. You council tax reduction will be recalculated based on your state pension.
You should already be claiming council tax reduction separately because it's not part of UC.

    Thanks for the interest .
Yes council repairs etc are carried out OK but for simple benefit advice by phone or e mail is poor !
