Hidradenitis supporativa and pip

I was wondering if anyone has had any success claiming pip with skin conditions that also effect mobility.
I suffer from hidradenitis supporativa and also eczema as well as mental health. These conditions have taken over my life. I have been disheartened after receiving a copy of report with recommendation of 0 points. I will wait for decision and put in for MR. just curious to hear other peoples stories.

PIP is not awarded based on any diagnosis, it's how your conditions affect you against the PIP descriptors. You can't really compare yourself to someone else because we are all affected differently by these conditions.
If you're not happy once the decision's been made i'd advise you to speak to an advice agency near you to check that you can score enough points needed for an award. Start here. https://advicelocal.uk/
I'd also advise you to have a read of this. https://pipinfo.net/

@poppy123456 I understand it’s not about diagnosis and everybody is effected differently. I just wanted to hear other peoples stories to make me feel not as alone that’s all.

    Hi @hannah9229

Thanks for making this post, hopefully you will hear from others with similar conditions, it does help to make you feel as though you aren't the only person going through it.

How are you getting on with managing your conditions? Do you receive support from your GP with it?

    Hi there

Sorry I have not heard of your condition but it all depends on how your condition affects you as mentioned by poppy

I haven't seen anyone else on here mention about skin conditions and claiming pip but that doesn't mean there are no members however there are several with mental health conditions who successful claim

Where and why do you think you should score points ? That is what you need to evidence in your MR if your claim is unsuccessful

Yes I did also mention my mental health as it is also a big factor in my everyday life. I am currently having CBT for ptsd and my GP is aware of everything. I have lost 4 stone in 12 months.
I am also under specialist in the hospital for my skin and have been since I was 10.

What type of things is good evidence?
    Thanks everyone for the replies

    Hi

Good evidence is your own detailing what happened last few times you tried to do the tasks

What you did,  how you did it , any support aids or prompting , where you did it , can you do it safely reliably and repeatedly.  What are the consequences of doing a task and if you can't do it why not

Unless evidence details your functionality against the descriptors it isn't worth sending

@L_Volunteer hi, it has been really tough to be honest. I am not feeling the best about the tribunal because I have gone for a paper based and I know the stats are very low. I just can’t leave the house at the moment and even if I could I can’t talk about one of my skin conditions because the area it is. I have suffered from a bowel perforation in between all of this and I am dealing with debt. It’s just been an absolute nightmare of a year. Thank you for all your support it really does mean a lot. I am still waiting for DWP to respond and have been told they have been given another 21 days to send the bundle.

Are you getting any support from a representative to support you with your tribunal @hannah9229

Have you got any support to help you manage your debt? StepChange may be able to help.

Do you mind me asking why you're not able to leave the house at the moment?

@Tori_Scope hi, no I am not getting support from a representative at the moment. Yes I have been in touch with step change throughout the year and they have been very helpful and understanding.
I am struggling to leave most days because of my health conditions. I was having CBT to help with this but had to stop when I went into hospital in April.

You can request a telephone hearing, if you're unable to leave the house. Telephone hearing success rate is the same as appearing in person, so around 70%. Paper based hearings have between 5-8% success rate. Even if you still request the paper based hearing, HMCTS may still ask you to appear in person, if a decision can't be made on paper alone.
I totally understand the stress it causes but HMCTS want to hear it from you exactly how your conditions affect you.

Thanks for sharing that @hannah9229 :) Did you take a look at the advicelocal.uk link you were pointed to before? I'm wondering whether you might find it helpful to get some expert advice.

I'm glad that StepChange have been helpful and understanding.

Do you think there's a way you could start having some CBT again, if you were finding it helpful before?

Hi Hannah I suffer with HS and I have claimed pip for daily living.... although mine is going through a review stage, I submitted photos and medical reports, as evidence, its a progressive uncurable disease, its crippling disorder, when completing the application explain how painful it can be for you, mine have started tunneling so I'm getting golf ball sized abcess In different areas hope this helps....... its an awful disease to have and it does impact your mental health x

@beth12 thank you for commenting as in the 13 months going through this process, you are the only person I have heard of claiming for this skin condition. I can’t take photos of mine because it’s to inappropriate. Mine effects private areas of my body. I have had this condition since a teenager but was only diagnosed at 18 after having phototherapy to clear my skin from eczema. I am now 30 and it’s become harder to manage. I have submitted medical reports as evidence. Your comment has given me some hope so thank you.

Thought I would update my post. A tribunal took place on Friday without me (paper based). I have been awarded enhanced daily living and standard rate mobility. I received an email update this morning and could read the hearing outcome. I have just got to wait for the letter to come this week. Thank you all for your support and help. I have found this website to be so much help. To anyone reading this please don’t give up. I scored 0 after the assessment and MR stage. I scored 12 points for daily living and 8 for mobility at a paper based tribunal.
