It is something in a bun, does it not count as a sandwich when it's one piece cut down the middle?0 -
I think...a hot dog is a hot dog, as a sausage sandwich is a very different thing1

If a hot dog is a sandwich then so is a beef burger ๐
epic fail, neither are sandwiches since the Earl didnโt invent those! ๐1 -
A hot dog bun can be classed as a sandwhich if you put sandwhich filler in it, then it's more of a bun
I'll get me coat

You got me on another technical point...crisp sandwich indeed ๐1

Cheese and onion crisps are the best for a crisp butty2

Since people are thinking laterally......The hotdog is actually the sausage, so that can`t be a sandwich. The long bread thing the sausage goes in is a finger roll, so that can`t be a sandwich.Does that mean when both are together it`s a roll, a hot dog or a sandwich?0

Then it must be 'a hot dog finger roll' ....0

I personally say no, as it is not between two slices of bread.
However the US Department of Agriculture describes a sandwich two slices of bread or the top and bottom sections of a bun that encloses meat or poultry.
So a beefburger is a sandwich, but a hot dog is not. Since the roll is normally cut mostly from the top down, and not sliced to separate the top from the bottom. The opening is at the top.
But then while they could send men to the moon, they cannot speak English properly and drive on the wrong side of the road, so what do they know?1 -
My mum used to eat bread sandwiches during the war due to rationing!

A hotdog is actually the name of the sausage in the middle too. Will that change anyone's thoughts? or shall we just eat it like @Sandy_123 says

We used to eat bread and dripping sandwiches in the fifties and sixties, swinging or dodgy ๐1

Nope. It's a sausage in a roll. That makes it a sausage roll.1
