I recently started work 6 hours a week- I informed esa but letter didn’t get there - strikes ect they sent me a letter because Hmrc sent them information about my employer paying me- I sent the letter next day and they received it.. at least I think- they didn’t stop my money yet hopefully it won’t affect benefits but do I need to tell pips also? Out of curtesy or something?

You don't need to inform PIP because it has nothing to do with you working, people claim PIP and work. For your ESA and permitted work rules, you must make sure you work less than 16 hours per week and earn no more than £152/week. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/permitted-work-rules
