Hello,
I writing on behalfe of my partner who recently has being dianosed with cervix cancer in may 22, she had a full hystoretomy and is now going for her chemo.
She has always worked for 42years and nether been on the dole until now, we have applied for pip in may and I have applied for care allownce and I have not been in work since may becouse of looking after her. We have phoned them twice and still nothing, I had to take my car of the road to get some tax back and cancel my insurance ( so i will now loose my no-claims bonus again!!) we are reling on money from her sick pay and honours pay from work ( £50 a week)
Now I have the bank on the phone yesterday becouse I now owe them £400 in arrears and I can't have my cares allowence and universal credit becouse of waiting of pip its now getting my anxity up to level in where I am going to SNAP!!!!!!!

You can't claim carers allowance or carers element of UC unless your partner is awarded at least daily living PIP. It's not unusual for a PIP claim to take at least several months, possibly longer, unless claiming through the DS1500 route, if her diagnosis is 6 month or less left to live. (sorry about the use of those words) If she's not using this form then she must have also had the conditions for at least 3 months.As you're claiming Universal Credit, has she reported her health condition supported by a fit note from her GP? This will start the work capability assessment process off and while having treatment such as chemo and/or radiotherapy, she will automatically qualify for LCWRA and the extra money will be paid from the 4th month after she reported her health condition.0

Hi, yes got doctors letters and the hospital letters all been e-mailed to pip and she has had cancer over a year now she couldn't stop bleeding from her front and they just assumed it was her monthly cycle/ her change in her life she's 56 and she has to have 12wk chemo and 2 radio at theend of the course. but they know all this and every time we phone its " I WILL LEAVE A MEASGE ON THE SYSERTEM" GREAT BRITIAN?0

There are lots of backlogs with PIP at the moment, she should expect an assessment because most people have them, this will either be by telephone, video call or face to face at an assessment centre. Once the assessment is complete a decision can then take 2-12 weeks. PIP has nothing to do with UC.Has she reported her health condition with UC? she will need to send fit/sick notes for this also.0

had her assessment in july of the year via telephone and they got the leters to everthing and she even phoned them they say they passed on the out come this was in early augest some time, if it nothing is done by october then I will proceding the courts to get in volved, if she was a young scruffy kid and never work in there life get it on a plate, we both worked through out the pandamic both years in asda and now its seeming we been crapped on frankie howred two fingers......0

If that was a PIP assessment then a decision can take between 2-12 weeks after the assessment report is returned to DWP. Once the decision is made she will be contacted through a text message but only if successfully awarded. The decision letter will follow that about 2 weeks later. Any money owed is uaully paid into the bank before the decision letter is received. Of course, if refused there will be no money owed at this stage.No need to proceed through any court at anytime. Once the decision is made, if you're not happy you can request the MR first and then Tribunal (not a court)0

You haven’t responded to the question poppy asked regarding whether or not she has reported her health condition to UC. It isn’t clear if some of your posts refer to PIP or UC. As poppy said, as a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy she should be treated as having LCWRA automatically (but will still need to have completed a UC50 health questionnaire) and would have additional money included from the fourth month.
For PIP there is no automatic entitlement just because of her diagnosis and the PIP claim process is (unacceptably) lengthy. If PIP is awarded she will be paid arrears and your CA claim will then be processed and can be paid in arrears too. Notehoweve4 that the CA is deducted from any UC so doesn’t actually increase your overall benefit.

I'd also second the advice above to get in touch with Macmillan, or another charity, if that's something you think could help you to navigate your way through this difficult time.

WELL SO I HAVE DECIDED TO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS **** AS I HAVE STARTED TO LOOK FOR WORK AND GOT TWO INTERVEIWS WE TALKED ABOUT IT SO. IF IAM AT WORK AND SOMTHING HAPPENS TO HER WELL WE WILL HAVE TO COME ACROSS THE BRIGDE P.S. SORRY IF MY WRITING AND SPELLING IS RUBBISH BUT I HAD A STROKE 7 YEARS AGO AND NOE AND THEN I GET LILLTE CONFUSED . GOOD BYE.0

Does she have other numbers she could call if something were to happen to her while you were at work? Such as a friend, family member, or a local service?0 -
hi every one, we now been turned down 3 times nowand even tho they have medical reports from the hospital and referances from her specialst nurse and even the ds1500 form from our GP becouse she is on stage 3 cancer and still said no saying not up to there critaie what do they want,, **** ON A STICK? yes its the bird made out of toffy and not the other..... PLEASE.0

It is unusual for a claim to be refused with a DS1500 (although I have known it happen and when it has it is always with forms prepared by GPs do not always understand the grounds on which they can do them). UPDATE... STILL NO PIP ITS NOW BEEN OVER A YEAR , THEY ARE SAYING WE NEED TO REAPLY FOR NEW PIP..
