Direct payment and PIP

Hello, I’m hoping someone can give me some advice. I’m on higher rate PIP for both, I have family and friends that help with my care but I’ve been told I can get help to employ a PA through direct payments. My question is will the care component of my PIP be used to help pay towards this.

Before you can apply for direct payments you will need to have a needs assessment from your local Authority. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/help-from-social-services-and-charities/getting-a-needs-assessment/You can refer yourself using the link above.Once the assessment is complete if they decide that help/support is needed then you'll need to have a financial assessment. If you're an adult then yes they do use your PIP daily living award (and any other income you have) as part of the calculation, which will determine the amount you'll need to pay towards any help you receive. Most people have to pay a contribution.
