Morning I applied for carers allowance on the 16th October last year and twice I was told I earned too much even though I was earning less than the amount stated (before tax) so I requested a mandatory reconsideration and I’m still waiting for a reply.

    Hello @pegyjude

Welcome to the community! :) I hope you don't mind, I popped your comment into a new post under our  Benefits and Financial Support section so more people can see and be able to help.

When did you request Mandatory Reconsideration? last October?

Hi Hannah yes that’s fine, I requested mandatory reconsideration at the beginning of November because the two weeks I applied and was rejected they took a matter of days to reply

According to Citizen's Advice there is no time limit and can be months. There are a few people here who have been waiting a few months to hear back.

I’m glad it’s not just me then. I’ve read that they will back date it up to three months is that correct and if so it seems unfair if you have been waiting a decision much longer

There are many criticisms about the benefits system. It seems waiting is one of the top ones :(

Keeping my fingers crossed you hear soon! 🤞

The 3 months doesn't apply here because you've already applied.
