I have been dismissed from work due to health issues What can I claim for

    New style ESA maybe possible depending on your NI contributions in tax years 2020/21 and 2021/22. You will need a fit note to be able to claim this. If entitled to payments and you're 25 and over then you'll receive £77/week.

    There's also Universal Credit but whether you're entitled will totally depend on your circumstances. If you live with a partner you'll need to claim as a couple and your joint circumstances will be taken into consideration. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you're excluded from claiming.     If you claim both of those together the ESA will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

    I'm so sorry to hear you have been unwell to the point of being dismissed from your job. Can I ask, do you have good support for your health? I see Poppy has already answered your query, the links to Citizen's Advice and the Benefits Calculator are excellent.
