PIP Telephone Assessment

Hello I had my PIP telephone assessment today and feel really downhearted. The assessor was very robotic and kept talking over me. She made me feel like I was boring her. I heard her sigh a couple of times. I never got to explain properly about the way certain activities affect me. Just feel so down in the dumps now. Anyone else feel the same after their telephone assessment.

Many people feel this way after the assessment. Some people hope that their anxiety will ease but mostly it doesn't.The time to tell them all about your health conditions was when you filled out the form. There's never enough of time to go into all the details during the assessment. It's really for them to gather extra evidence to support your claim. Now it's completed a report will be written and returned to DWP. Once this is done a decision can take anything up to 12 weeks.I know it's very difficult but try not to overthink it and try to focus on something else while you wait.0

The phone assessment is nothing short of a joke. It is all designed to trip you up and find contradictions in your original form.1

Thank you so much for your caring response. It was a horrible feeling though. The thought that your limitations and hardships were boring someone. Especially a medical professional. I’ll just wait and see now.0

As said by others, distract yourself when you start thinking about it, do stuff you enjoy, watch TV, listen to music etc. Use this time to 'regroup'.
If the decision goes against you, it isn't the end of your claim, you have MR and Appeal, 73% of decisions are turned over during Appeal.
I had an awful Assessor, robotic, zero rapport, zero empathy, he was on a mission, but no longer carry's out Assessments.

My assessor seemed shocked that I couldn’t prepare and cook a meal with just my left hand ( I’m right handed). She said if you have learned to use the mouse on your computer with your left hand then why can’t you cook with just your left hand.0

My assessor was able to test my eyesight over the phone. Crazy how Specsavers can’t do that. These people are hugely talented1

Although I was not impressed by my accessor I am impressed by the timeframe of my claim. I submitted my claim form on 21st February, got my phone assessment today and received a text at 2 pm to say the DWP has received the written report and would be in touch when a decision is made.0

There is no doubt there are good experienced Assessor's out there, who see the Claimant more then a 'means to an end'.0
