Before and After school options for child with CP

Hi,

My son is currently in full time private nursery but us due to start school this sept. We now have the dilema of trying to organise before and after school care for our son who has quadraplegic CP, We are torn between trying to find a local before and after school club - who may not have the specialist knowledge of CP or do we try and find someone privately who can look after him on a one to one basis and give him the care and attention he needs???

Currently preferring the one to one option but cannot find anywere where you can find childminders who have special needs experience. Anyone know of any websites/ organisations who can help us find someone?

    We have someone who picks our son up after school and stays with him until we return from work. We found her through a nanny agency and she had no experience with CP, but 4 years down the line she's probably an expert.

    There is a specialist nanny agency called SNAP http://www.snapchildcare.co.uk/ and there is this agency http://www.cool2care.co.uk/carers.asp. SNAP are quite pricey from what I recall and I've heard that they have placed a nanny and then offered them a another job a few months later. I mention them, but I wouldn't recommend them.

    I looked into childminders, but they often look after other children and many of them do the child care at their home, which may not be accessible.

    Hi

    There is a company called SNAP who provide special needs nannies. We're thinking of contacting them as we never get any time to ourselves to have a break.

    Don't know if anyone else has any info or use them.

    I think they maybe quite expensive though but anything to do with special needs seems to be!!

    I'd be interested to know how you get on
