New PIP Claim

Hi All

I need some advice I made a claim for PIP in February I had a telephone assessment on the 31st of March and today I've received a text saying they are still making a decision. I didnt request for a copy of my assessment so i don't know what I scored.

I literally can't cope with the wait it's so cruel that where made to suffer for a long awaited decision of yes or no, and in the meantime the agonising wait only exasterbates chronic conditions further.

This Friday will be the 3rd week since my assesment so I do have to take into account the easter bank holiday's.
I want to say no news is good news but my friend applied recently and got a rejection letter a week later.

I would be so broken if I got rejected I suffer from anxiety depression as well as endometriosis in my sciatica so I'm hoping to get PIP for both parts. I just don't have it in me to fight if its a no. Do you think I should call for an update?

Decisions can take anything up to about 12 weeks once the assessment report was returned. Some receive a decision in less time and others longer.
I totally understand the anxiety it causes with the wait but you’ve done all you can for now. Once a decision is made you will be contacted.
In the meantime try to think of something else while you wait.

    Hello @smou_88

As Poppy said, it can take up to 12 weeks. The wait is horrible and frustrating.

I know it's easier said than done, but we have a lovely community here. I'd love to see you in Coffee Lounge. It's where have have our general debates, play games and shares our hobbies and interests :)

I still haven't heard anything back from pip so I called last week asking for my assessment report. I received the report the next day which surprised me, but from what I read the assessor has awarded me pip which is amazing but im worried that dwp might go against the report as my was only a standard rate. Does this happen that dwp goes not agree with the report ?

The assessor makes a recommendation only, they can't award you anything, only a decision maker can do this. They do mostly go with it but i has been known for them to go against it.
Timescales for decisions is anything up to about 12 weeks after the report was returned to DWP.

Good news. Yes, it's perfectly normal to receive a text to tell you that you've been awarded. If you want to know what you've been awarded and when to expect any money that's owed you'll need to ring PIP to ask them.

I've trying to claim pip since May 2022....I've had 2 rejections and today I await a call about how I now make my 3rd claim .... I have been told I'm too honest in my claim...so today people who claim pip have told me I need to lye or exaggerate my claim....it seems the people like me who need this extra cash can't get it because of the scammers and cheaters in the UK who falsely claim benefits....I'm 53....x military too....never have I claimed anything from the benefit system in my LIFE and yet when I need this help I am rejected.
    Good ole blighty eh

I wish I`d seen this before I commented on your other post; I wouldn`t have bothered trying to help.
You`ve just called everyone on this site scammers and cheaters who falsely claim benefits.  That`s hardly the correct way to win someone over.
I`m ex-military and 62 this year and receive PIP.  PIP is the only component of the benefit system that I have claimed in my life and it`s not about "exagerating" or "lying" it`s about getting your challenges across.

@Tosh5555 I can imagine what you are going through having to prove how disabled you are. I been suffering for 5 years but only got diagnosed late 2022 so I now this year i only claimed any type benefits my advice don't give up .. get help with the pip questions and descriptors my friend helped me fill out the form there no such thing as being to honest if your only explaining how it affects your life, it could be the wording your using might be giving room for interpretation from dwp.

    Good luck 👍🏾
