Good afternoon
I am in receipt of a disablement benefit and have been for several years. My question is, can I claim an extra pension, as a pension credit?

What other benefits do you claim? Are you state pension age or above?Do you live with a partner, if so are they state pension age or above?0

Without knowing more details it’s impossible to advise whether there’s any entitlement to pension credit.
If you live with a partner that’s younger than you then you can’t claim pension credit. You will be known as a mixed aged couple.0 -
Here is some information about claiming Pension Credit.
https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit
You can put in a claim for Pension Credit up to 4 months before you are due to receive your State Pension.
As Poppy above has said whether or not you will be eligible depends on a number of things.
Firstly do you live with a partner? If yes, are they also State Pension age? You both need to be State Pension age in order to claim Pension Credit.
If there are two of you then your joint income is taken in account.
If you are receiving Carer's Allowance or Carer's Element for looking after someone then you could receive more Pension Credit than the basic amount. Carer's Allowance will cease to be paid when you reach State Pension Age.

Thanks for that, this site is terrific for someone like myself, not really given all this sort of stuff much thought before, so any advice about the change from UC to State Pension is very welcome.0
