    1) the date you reported the change in your circumstances, or
    2) three months from the change occurred
    If the change is due to the accident in October 2022 any revised award would be due from a date in January 2023. The arrears should have been paid from January to April when the new decision was made.
    When does the decision letter you received in April say the revised award starts from?
    The award letter states the award starts 25th April 2023 and ends 2rd April 2027. October 2022 was the date they confirmed they received my change of circumstances letter.

    You will need to ring PIP tomorrow when they open and 9am and tell them you think being awarded from April is incorrect. Tell them that you reported a change of health condition and tell them what date you reported it.

    Question on a similar topic:

    if you got an increased award after a pip renewal would you expect any back pay and when

    - the start of the new decision date
    - when the dwp receive (confirm with a text they’ve received your filled in pip renewal form)
    - when the dwp 1st notify you by letter that it’s time to renew your pip claim (12 months or less before end date)

    In normal times a review started by DWP would mean any changes would take affect from the date the decision was made.

    However, because of the delays with review decisions they have been backdating some awards to an earlier date. Some have received money owed, some haven't.

    This accident caused me severe injuries that massively affect my day to day mobility. I called the DWP to ask for a reassesment due to my new medical changes. I was sent the form and filled it in and sent it straight back to them in October, following this I had a reassement in March this year where I received the full mobility award letter in May. Someone mentioned to me that I might be eligible for a back payment to the time I sent of the form in October which they received in October.

    I have tried to go into as much detail above to hopefully get an answer. The question is should I get a lump back payment for the time between them receing my form in October 2022 and the award letter I received in April 2023?

    Okay so from my original contact to the PIP assesors it has been 12 months and still no sign of an answer, I have made several calls with the last one only a week ago for them to tell me a decision hasnt been made and that it was with my case handler.

    I have had the same response on every occasion over the last year. Does it ever take this long or am I just being fobbed off in the hope I give up?

    As it has been so long is there an appeals process I can go down to get an answer or is this the standard amount of time and generic responses? Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.
