Pip, LCWRA, Housing Benefit

I was recently awarded PIP for 3 years and whilst at my most recent JC appointment I was advised by my WC that I could also be awarded LCWRA and I proceeded to ask my GP for a fit note and this was given straight away and I have reported it to UC online and will speak to WC next week at regular appointment.

I was told that pip does not affect HB but my question is will LCWRA or a combination of pip and LCWRA affect our HB (housing association property)

And does anyone know the process of what I need to do next as all I've done so far is reported change of circumstances/health and added my 1st fit note to UC journal.

Thanks

You will only be claiming housing benefit if you're either living in supported or temporary housing. If not then your rent will be in with your UC known as housing element. They are 2 completely different benefits.

If found to have LCWRA then it will not affect your housing element. LCWRA will increase your maximum UC entitlement by £390.06/month from the 4th month after you reported your health condition.

For the WCA you should be referred on about day 29 after you reported your health condition. In some cases it can be on day one. When you're referred you will receive a letter on your journal. A few days after that you will receive the UC50 form in the post. You will need to fill that in and return it with your supporting evidence. Once they receive it back you'll likely need an assessment because most have them. There's some information here. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/universal-credit-if-you-have-a-disability-or-health-condition-quick-guide/universal-credit-if-you-have-a-disability-or-health-condition

Thanks for the information. And yes I remembered it was housing element and not HB once I wrote it. This is all new to me and so much varying information online so thought I'd seek clarification from here.
So.. am I right in saying the proces involves me giving fit notes for 3 months, then getting and filling out the form and having a assessment to determine the level of WC. If that is correct then how long after (depending on award level) will any payment be made and am I right in saying that is also backdated like my pip claim was. Thanks (sorry for the extra questions but it's a bit difficult for me to fully understand at times and wish some government websites would put it in easy simple terms so everyone can understand it all)

You will need to provide fit notes without any gaps until a decision on a made on the WCA. Sometimes this can take longer than 3 months.

You will only receive extra money if found to have Limited Capability for Work Related Activity. (LCWRA) This will increase your maximum UC entitlement by £390.06/month. It’s paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition. This is known as the “waiting period” PIP is backdated to the date you rang to start your claim, LCWRA is different.

It could take several months for a decision on the WCA.
