Have you faced accessibility problems with your local playground?
You know all children have an equal right to play. Play feeds imagination and forms friendships.
But how many times have you gone to a playground to find it’s not inclusive for disabled children?
Disabled children shouldn’t have to fight for their place in the playground.
You and your family deserve to feel a part of your community. We want to see playgrounds where disabled children get to play alongside non-disabled children across the country. This shows children from a young age that an inclusive world is possible.
Want to do something about it?
Councillors are responsible for local playgrounds, so it’s vital that they commit to ensuring the playgrounds in their area are inclusive and accessible.
Email them today to ask them to support disabled children’s right to play.

Do you mind me asking what kind of accessibility problems you've faced with your local playground @dannistar? Thanks for responding to the poll

YesThere’s no working equipment for young people with disability , they get ruined by others who use the park wrongly0

That's really interesting to know, thanks @dannistar! We suspect it's similar across parks in England and Wales. Have you told your local councillor about this? https://campaigns.scope.org.uk/page/129247/action/1?ea.tracking.id=OnlineCommunity
Youll also have the opportunity to survey your local playgrounds from later this month, which we hope will help campaigners, groups, as well as Scope to make the case for change.

NoIt might give you the idea of them: www.inclusivehome.co.uk - Not a commercial website. It may show what can be done. Also do a web search I thought Alton Towers or somewhere which built a fully accessible playground.0

Thanks for sharing that website @johndtay! They've actually been part of this campaign

We're looking at free, public playgrounds for this campaign, but it's always interesting to hear about organisations who've built inclusive playgrounds. I'm not much of a theme park goer, so am not familiar with the playground at Alton Towers. Have you been?0
