Access to work transport

Does anyone know if this will help towards an automatic car? I have ME and loose use of my left leg meaning I can currently not drive. My job requires me to drive but I cannot afford an automatic car even if I sell mine it won’t be enough. Public transport isn’t an option as I go into schools and some of them are out in villages where there isn’t any. I really don’t want to have to leave my job. I’m awaiting pip assessment but I doubt I will have enough points to get enhanced mobility so can’t get a car through that.

It’s highly unlikely that they will fund an automatic car for you.They will help with adaptions to a vehicle. Or if public transport isn’t an option they will fund taxis.If you think you’re entitled to Enhanced mobility PIP and you’re not awarded this then you can challenge the decision.0

When you mentioned an automatic car, I was under the impression that you were asking about ATW helping with purchasing a vehicle, which they won’t do.Adaptions to a vehicle you already have is different.1
