I missed a call today from DWP and they left a message on my journal saying they would call me back.

They said we need to discuss an underpayment before we can process it.

I don’t like speaking to people on the phone with my anxiety but my question is why do they need to speak to me before they can process it? If anyone knows the potential cause of having to speak to me first before processing it please let me know thank you

It’ll be in regards to your ability to handle lump sums, nothing to worry about. If possible, please do answer next time.

I hope you are well too, thanks.

When a benefit has been awarded and needs backdating then it is standard practice to phone a claimant (where there’s a large amount of money involved) to see if they can ‘cope’ with receiving it all at once or whether they’d prefer it in instalments. Sometimes, people with Mental Health issues do require instalments so they don’t ‘blow’ it. :D
