Appeal lodged. DWP have until xxx to respond.

Does it ever happen that the DWP respond with a changed decision (that you might wish to accept) so that it doesn't have to continue with the court?

"OK, hands up, we should have given you 10 points on that one".   We're very sorry and we're going to hand deliver your back pay on a silver platter.  

Seriously though, is that something that happens? That they revise their MR decision and then all parties can avoid an unnecessary court thingie?

    Yes it does happen but it's rare. Before they respond they will look at all evidence again and if they decide to make an offer they will contact you.

    You should expect the hearing to go ahead and this way if there's no offer made it won't be too much of a surprise. Attending in person or requesting a telephone/video hearing will give you the best chance of a decision in your favour. Paper based hearings have a much less success rate.

    Thanks Poppy (again). I'll expect a hearing. I've opted for a video call. My contention is that I can't plan and undertake a journey so it seems counter productive to agree to do just that to go to a face-to-face hearing (which I can't).
