Hi Chris, I have a 3 year old child with Down Syndrome and I was thinking of buying an ipad after seeing that DownsEd had brought out an app for their see and learn programme which we use hardcopy! Can you suggest which spec of an ipad I should opt for (I dont have an iphone but thought the ipad would be a better option), any other apps which you recommend and what about a protective case to increase its longevity with my toddler!! Thanks in advance

    Hi HappyCamper

For a 3 year old, I would recommend the 16GB Ipad. You wouldn't really require 3G unless you were going to share it across the family and required an internet connection when out. You will need access to a WiFi connection to download apps or a computer with Itunes that has an internet connection.
Following are some lovely apps I would recommend: Paint Sparkles, Pocket Pond, Laser Lights, DJ Mix Kids, Kids Song Machine 2, ABC Alphabets, Toy Story, Bloom HD, Talking Tom, Talking Ben. These all have free "Lite" versions to have a go with first. With regards to "toddler proof" cases, you could look at the Otterbox Defender or check out the iAdapter on the Inclusive Technology website http://www.inclusive.co.uk/iadapter-for-ipad-p5174

Thanks for your question - hope this helps :)
