Hello I've received PIP court hearing date for Oct I was wondering if DWP will call me before the hearing date I've heard they did call people to offer payment when hearing date is set, second question I was offered metheroxide as treatment but I refused it instead I'm taking naproxen only, will that be a negative impact on my appeal for not taking metheroxide

Hey @Ruby888, welcome back to the community. From what you are saying it sounds like your MR did not have a good outcome and you have unfortunately had to go to a tribunal appeal?

Citizen's advice have a very good information and advice section on tribunal appeals, you can read it here Challenging a PIP decision - the tribunal hearing - Citizens Advice. This page offers advice on how to  prepare for the tribunal, what will happen during the tribunal and how to best act during it :)

Regarding the medication, I will copy this quote from the above page "It’s normal to feel anxious or nervous ahead of the appeal hearing, but no one will be trying to catch you out - it’s your opportunity to explain how your condition affects you and show them why you should get PIP."

Also, the tribunal cares about how you are affected day to day, you are entitled to choose what treatment you get. If they, for whatever reason, happen to ask why you refused the medication simply be truthful with the tribunal board. Not taking a single medication does not invalidate how your conditions affect your day to day living.

The DWP has called in the past to offer an award, though this is increasingly rarer since they were found to be misinforming people about what they were entitled to.
