When to claim for esa???

in Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)
I’m off work sick atm (osteoarthritis and depression) I’m still getting sick pay from work but feel I’ll probably be properly leaving in about 2-3 months. I’m not sure at what point I should put in a claim for esa? (I did claim for pip and was awarded full pip pay) xx

    Hi @Begin, sorry to hear your health isn't doing so well. How are you feeling right now? Is your GP giving you any support?

    Regarding ESA, you just have to check if you meet the criteria, such as enough National Insurance contributions for example. You can read more about ESA in our advice pages here. One of the requirments for claiming is that you are not on Statutory Sick Pay. However, you can start your claim around 3 months before your 28 weeks of Statutory Sick Pay is due to end.
