Hello I hope someone can help , I made a renewal of my PIP claim after my originally claim going to appeal back in 2016 and was awarded 15 points and upheld in my favour - for hearing loss and ADHD .On My renewal pack I mentioned I have been and treated for ocular Melnoma ( cancer ) and one of my eyes is completely blurred but cancer successful treated, I mentioned this and provided medical proof . The latest award is for 6 points only and I went through the M - consideration route and still turns down , I received a phone call today From DWP saying they will get back to me instead of going to appeal , I have received a response text saying it’s going to appeal ? . I am finding the whole situation awful from my mental health ( ADHD ) point of view, with all the conflicting disabilities and the worry of my cancer . Is this how The DWP really supports people as I am seriously thinking of dropping the whole thing ?

Hi @Reddeer1 - & welcome to the community. I'm sorry to read this has happened with your PIP review. It's a shame the DWP said they'd get back to you, but in the end nothing changed. Unfortunately having to appeal is something that has affected some of our members, & you've also had to do this in the past.Altho the success rate with a MR is poor, with a tribunal it's lately a 68% success rate, so hope you feel able to pursue this. You can see if there's a Welfare Rights Office (or other organisation) near you, who help people with a tribunal, by checking here: https://advicelocal.uk/ choosing 'Welfare benefits' from the drop down menu.

Thank you for your advice- I will contact a advisor , it’s all very odd how my original claim was awarded 15 points on appeal and now they have decided to awarded me 6 even with a cancer operation. Actually I rather think the whole exercise was just to make me feel helpless and drop the whole thing. I can’t believe these people think they are helping when in this case it’s obvious all they are doing is costing the tax payer more money in trying to defend a wrong assesment0

DWP is the largest government department with a huge budget and ruthless business model funded by taxpayers (which we all are).
Of course they want you to drop your claim. Your best chance is to let this go to appeal again and call their bluff. You haven't recovered and they have no evidence that you have since the last determination at Tribunal. Good luck, stay strong

Thank you . I know it’s daft but I thought of sending more evidence but since you have said about no proof of a recovery. - in fact cancer adding to my disability. I will take this to appeal . Thank you for your advice .1

You don't yet know what supporting evidence has been used or left out so attach anything you believe is relevant to your original claim and recent change of circumstances in your appeal request
Dig out documents from your first successful appeal and compare those with DWP's response when you get it. It should be possible to cross-reference claim start and end dates and identify which decision has been revised adversely.
Plus, you will be left alone after this renewal so getting your original award reinstated and increased now is worth the time and effort
