AFO

Hi All,
I was wonderding if anyone else here wears AFO's / brace / splint. 
The past few months I have been wearing one on my right leg, love that its purple. NHS fitted it so I dont have to use crutches anymore. 
Only seen kids wear them, no adults. 
Hope you are all well. 
South East  based, neurological condition, arthritis in 30s.

    I go one further - I have a KAFO on my left leg
    This goes from foot to thigh - it does help me to walk  but can be uncomfortable after a few hours
    I recently have been given a "normal" brace for my right leg to wear at the same time.
    I suffer from hyperextension of both knee joints

    I looked it up as I had not seen the term AFO before, Ankle Foot Orthosis for anyone else not in the know! I've seen them before, just didn't know their exact name. I think it's great you can get them in different colours, I wonder if you can paint patterns on them at all if you own it (by that I mean if you don't have to return it)?

    Thank you Jim and Wibbles, sounds odd but sometimes I feel like I am the only adult using AFOs, I do prefer it than using crutches. They take a cast of your foot and leg, so it is custom for you, which means I can customise it as I wont need to give it back. 

    Wibbles do you wear the KFO over trousers or under? I wear mine over skinny jeans or under baggy trousers for work (or unconfident days). What is a normal brace, is that the fabric ones?

    I'm 50 and I wear an AFO (except for when I'm wearing boots). Depending on where I'm going and what shoes I'm wearing, I'm either wearing one only on my left side or on both sides.
