Hi my name is Lesley, I currently receive housing benefit, Esa&pip, my landlord has said that his is thinking of selling his properties, I have just joined the council waiting list and if moved in to a new property would I still be able to make a claim without having to move onto universal credit

If you remain in the same Local Authority then you will be able to remain on your existing benefits. This is because you're already claiming Housing Benefit and it would just be a change of address.If you move to a different local Authority then you will need to claim UC for help with any rent. This will then end any Income Related ESA you're claiming, 2 weeks after you claim UC.0

Not everyone. Those that are only claiming contributions based benefits or the New style benefits will not be migrated across.littleminx72 said:Thankyou very much for your reply to my question?
