What's the true meaning of Christmas? [Day 12]

It's day 12 of our 12 days of debates, and we're in for a big one!

These days, Christmas seems to start up in late October and drags on until early January. There's always a lot of focus on buying gifts, putting up decorations, going out for Christmassy experiences and posting about it on social media, but has the real meaning of Christmas been lost? 

Has it become far too commercial nowadays, or are you all up for the more capitalistic aspects of Christmas time? 

At the risk of sounding like a cheesy Christmas film, I think for me, the meaning of Christmas has always been spending quality time with people I love and appreciate. I'm not religious, but I love just having the time to catch up with friends and family.

What's the true meaning of Christmas for you?

    IMHO It's now a commercial money grab & a lot of folks literally buy into it no matter the cost, then try & pick up the pieces afterwards. When I was a kid, you made your list for Father Christmas & got one thing from it, the main present, with smaller stocking fillers. Nowadays, a kid writes a list & expect & quite often get everything, even though there isn't the money. There isn't a message anymore for a lot, commercialism has taken it over.

    Forget about the debts you already have and do your best to get into more debt and don't worry about it until at least January.
