Just ordered a new MacBook Air this morning.

Was hoping to wait for the M3 processor to come out but my one needs replacing now sadly and I can't really wait ~9 months which is when the M3 is said to come out.
You made the right choice, The difference between the M chips is very minimal at best, I recently upgraded from the M1 air to the M2 air the main thing that matters is the Ram, Avoid the 8gb of ram if possible

Thanks @Luchia that's good to know, I also saw some benchmarks for the M3 in the new MacBook Pro and they are a small improvement at best so I am pleased with my purchase.

The difference between the Intel chip in my previous MBA and the M2 chip is like night and day, a laptop this thin really has no right to be able to play games so well lol

Yep I went for 16GB RAM, I don't think 8 is enough these days, never thought I would say that, I remember when 256MB ram was a lot and my entire hard drive was 4GB.

Just some extra advice, never trust the Benchmark tests, They are done under set conditions and very rarely apply to the real world use.
The difference in the M chips are extremely minimal but yes the difference between the intel models and the M models are night and day, I’m sure you will be very happy with your new MacBook

I last ordered the ‘futuro’ compilation- its a pack of 5 x 12” vinyls (put together by-and signed by John digweed)  from bedrock recordss shop.one of the best compilations I’ve ever listened to (bedrock themselves have put it on youtube if you want to listen,it’s quite complex electronic music).

My first laptop (1994) was mono (not colour screened) and had a 25Mhz 386DX  (32bit !!) processor, with 2MB RAM and a 640MB hard drive !!

Surprisingly - no -  it was a slim one - without any CD built in !
It had a ball mouse built in as well
it was provided by my employers and cost them almost £2000
I also had a battery powered printer that it plugged in to
I was made redundant in 1996 and kept both - they fitted in to a rucksack - I remember cycling to a JOB CLUB thing  - with them both on my back
