Has anyone taken this test?

I was surprised by my results. I always considered myself moderately "Right" - perhaps because I was comparing myself with the extreme "Left" views that frequent the news?

I, also, always assumed I was a slight Capitalist but I am apparently more central - in fact very slightly toward the communist side.

I would be interested to know peoples results if they took the test. Of course if you want to take it and keep your result private that's entirely up to you, I just found it interesting. :)

    Thanks for sharing everyone, interesting to see your results.

    What they do is separate monetary/economic views from Liberal/Conservative views on rights etc.

    Having just "Left" and "Right" is not accurate, because as you can see in the graph it is possible to be Left wing economically but Conservative when it comes to human rights - think China - being Left wing r.e. money doesn't automatically make you a Liberal. Likewise, it's possible to be economically Right Wing but very Liberal, although I can't think of any examples of countries or people who fit into that category.

    @WhatThe The quiz has been going for 20 years and is used by many institutions but of course if you think the questions are awful that's entirely up to you. That said, if it helps, you are not meant to think too hard about the questions, also, they are supposed to provoke emotion and you are meant to give an answer quickly, not overthink.

    Traditionally "left" and "right" were just economic terms. How Authoritarian or Liberal you were didn't come into being "left" or "right". Both  have molded slightly into social terms as well.

    You will often see the more extreme views online, everyone's Overton window can be slightly different. The  compass should be looked at with a skeptical eye though, as it does remove nuance from the situation/concept.

    Really interesting, especially Obama twice! Never heard of Overton window. I'll find the suspect questions another time if that's ok  ;)
