Hi I was getting universal credit, i have been offered a cash in hand job will they be able to see if I'm paying tax on this money?

    You only need to pay tax on earnings if your annual income is more than £12,570.

    Just wanted to stop in and say hi, I can see you're already getting some help with your query. Though I will add, you should always be paying taxes where needed, even if the money is cash in hand.

    If it's actually 'cash' then no one would know unless you're putting it in a bank account or the employer is declaring it.

    Once it's in an account, HMRC & DWP etc will be able too see that electronically for years to come.  It probably won't trigger any immediate action, but could cause issues in future if you're ever investigated or asked to send bank statements.
