Victoria Derbyshire programme re PIP cuts

There was a piece on Victoria's programme this morning about how many people with degenerative, incurable diseases like Parkinsons, MS and Dementia are having their PIP mobility component reduced to zero because, according to DWP, 'these people are getting better'! Two cases were featured:  the first person had DWP's decision overturned at tribunal, the second couldn't face the stress of appealing to a tribunal.  The programme asked for an interview with DWP but, no surprise, the DWP declined.  The DWP gave the programme a written statement which included the usual fiction that assessments are carried out by 'qualified health professionals'.  My assessor was a paramedic.  

I think the figure given by the programme for PIP tribunal appeals is now over 6,000 a month, with 65% successful.

As if we didn't already know, this is just further evidence that the purpose of PIP assessments is to cut the benefits bill and, if the DWP can't find enough claimants who aren't sufficiently disabled to qualify or PIP, then they'll just refuse benefit to many of those who are indeed sufficiently disabled.
