I have twin boys one who has recently been diagnosed with Aspergers. I really don't know where to start trying to help him. My son is 11 years old and is in his first term at secondary school where he has had a rough time so far and I worry about his progress. Like many with Aspergers he is very smart but also willful and it is difficult to get him to engage in anything he doesn't find interesting.I wanted to know if there are any groups for this age where he can meet others similar to him? He always says no one is like him and he is a bit of a recluse.:( Any advice welcomes. Thank you.

    Hello,

I'm also autistic, same feedback as above. It's hard, but rather than focus on JUST the difficulties, allow your son to explore his strengths and interests in his own way.

    Here's the approach i took: http://jkg3.com/Journal/friends-autism-and-the-internet

I'd steer clear of "autism" groups. They make about as much sense as groups for people who all like the colour green :D Instead look for groups relating to his interests and obsessions where he can be a peer.

    hope that helps,
