Hi I would like to know about the possibility of not receiving pip after claiming dla for my son who will soon reach 16 but his condition has not changed

Claiming DLA doesn't automatically entitle him to PIP. Whether there's any entitlement will depend on how his conditions affect him.
When you receive the PIP2 form, you should make sure you fill it in with as much relevant information as possible. Include a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time he attempted each descriptor that applies to him. Adding detailed information such as where he was, what exactly happened did anyone see it and what the consequences were.
I'd also advise you to have a read of this in the meantime. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-independence-payment-assessment-guide-for-assessment-providers/pip-assessment-guide-part-2-the-assessment-criteria#daily-living-activitiesI would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Hi @lewis1966, welcome to the Scope community I hope we can help you out with this.
We have an advice page on this specific topic here: Changing from DLA to PIP | Disability charity Scope UK
There will be an invitation letter before your son's DLA award ends, it is highly recommended to apply before the award ends once you get the invitation letter.
Once you've put in a claim for PIP his DLA payments will continue until a decision is made about his PIP application. If you are late with applying for PIP the DLA payments will unfortunately stop.
Do you have any other questions or any subjects you aren't sure about? Such as being an appointee, it is not automatically transferred as those at 16 may want to start managing their money on their own if they're capable.
I'll move this over to our PIP category Please feel free to ask further questions!They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

Oh, about your specific question around possibility. PIP is slightly differently to DLA, however if his condition is much the same there is a good chance he will get PIP. There is of course the appeals process as well if the initial decision goes poorly.
To give you a better idea here is a guide to the points system of PIP : Personal Independence Payment (PIP) points system (benefitsandwork.co.uk)
If you would like to read more about the appeals process you can check out this page: Appealing a DWP decision | Disability charity Scope UKThey/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with
