Hello.
I'm soon to move into a flat which I will have to pay 5 weeks rent upfront. Which will equal about 600£
I'm just wondering in April when its the new financial year, will I be able to apply for DHP for a backdated payment?

A backdated payment? If you need help with rent in advance now then you should apply now.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

I tried to link the Newcastle under Lyme DHP site but the mods won't allow me to link

It needs to be approved before it will be posted

But yeah it still saying I can't apply for DHP until April 1st when the new Financial year begins

I guess they don't backdate the deposit then
ty for info -
I just looked @james1990 and I can't believe they shut it, for a whole month crazy!!! https://www.newcastle-staffs.gov.uk/benefits/housing-benefit/3
It looks like they might do a rent deposit scheme separate to a DHP. I don't know if you qaulify but worth looking: https://www.crisis.org.uk/ending-homelessness/resources-for-practitioners/prs-database/newcastle-under-lyme-district-council-housing-options-information/

I'm trying apply but it keeps coming up with this poppy
Application for Discretionary Payments | Applications Closed – Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council (newcastle-staffs.gov.uk)

DHP is a fixed pot of money, quite likely that they've now run out of funds for the current financial year.

Wow I've never known them close applications towards the end on the financial year. People move house all the time and not everyone has the funds to pay for rent in advance.
I'm afraid I don't know if you can backdate it. If you've already paid that rent in advance they may ask how you managed to do that and where you got the funds from. I'm not saying don't apply because I always say, if you don't ask, you don't get it.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please.
