Hi my 13 year old son who has cerebral palsy suffers from trapped wind during and after his feed. He is fed via a gastrostomy tube. Have any other parents come across this problem with their child and any ideas how to overcome this problem? It's so sad to see my son struggle and spasm badly when he's experiencing this discomfort.

I have not idea about the issue however something come to my mind. I will say anyway as we all learn. I would do a milkshake with dry prune or soak dry prune in a water and inject the liquid into gastrostomy tube. Perhaps it could help.

Thank you Iza.. I have been giving prune juice via the gastrostomy. It helps with constipation but not with the trapped wind. A friend has suggested peppermint tea....might give it a try..

Hello Ouida
My sister was prescribed an antacid for this reason which was put into her tube after meals, might be worth a try.
