Hi all, I’ve tried finding out myself but seem to be going in circles, I want to move mum in with me and mine as she’s getting older, question is, will she get help to pay towards rent and bills as we will need to rent house with another bedroom?

Hi @cagey, welcome to the Scope online community :)

What does you mum currently get (benefits, pension for example) can I ask? And how old is she? There may be some benefits she is entitled to. Will you also be caring for her as well?

Hope we can help you find out what help and support you can get :)

Hello, I’m already a carer for my wife so though taking care of her wouldn’t get carers for her, she’s in her lil 1 bed place at mo and gets hbenefit, state pension and pension credit

If you move to a different property and she’s named on the tenancy agreement then yes she will be able to claim for
help with the rent through housing benefit.

Does she currently claim a disability benefit such as AA, DLA or PIP?

With regards to other bills other than rent then this is what her current benefits are for. There’s no extra help for that. Benefits do not take into consideration the bills you have to pay.
