LCWRA award. is there any reason why they would not backdate my claim to the 14th week?

Hi there, I opened a claim for universal credit in July of last year and informed them of my conditions, I started providing fit notes when required, from the 8th of August last year. I already receive PIP, high rate mobility, standard rate care (1 point off high rate) In November of last year, I requested an assessment for LCWRA, my assessment was only carried out on the 13th of March. I have been awarded LCWRA but they have said its been awarded from the 12th of March, as that is when I reported my condition. This is untrue as I've kept up to date with all fit notes and as originally stated, I informed them when I opened my claim, I have now asked for a mandatory reconsideration, is there any reason why they would not backdate my claim to the 14th week. Thank you.

    Hey there @becj79 and welcome to the community. :)

    I'm sorry to hear you've been having issues with the DWP. I'd have thought they should've backdated that to November, as that would've been when you requested the assessment? Or to when you first supplied the fit notes? 
     I'm not great with the ins and outs of Universal credit still, but I'm sure one of our regulars will be along shortly and will be able to be of more help.  I just wanted to stop in and say hello. :)

    For UC it's not 14 weeks, it's 3 full assessment periods starting from when you provided your first fit note. It's then paid from the 4th month after that with first payment being the end of that month. It's not paid at all during the waiting period. 

    You said you provided your first fit note on 8th August last year, was that the actually date you provided it or the date on the fit note? 

    What date do you usually receive your money each month?

    Were there any gaps at all in your fit notes?

    Hi Poppy, that was the date that I provided the fit note as I'd opened my claim for universal credit a week before and that was the first one they requested. There have been no gaps in my fit notes and are all up to date.

    I get my money on the 3rd of the month.

    That means your waiting period will be Aug/Sept, Sep/Oct, Oct/Nov… LCWRA starts from 28th Nov to 27th Dec and first payment will be 3rd Jan.
